Welcome to Metta Constellation™

Throughout my life, people have asked me that.  A lot.  

As a kid, it was hard having to say my name several times, spell it often, and never find it on keychains at convenience stores. In my adulthood, though, I enjoyed discovering that my name, Metta, was more than a unique name passed down through my family tree.

Metta is the Pāli word for loving-kindness and names a meditation practice of extending compassion—to strangers, to those we love, and to ourselves.

Somehow, it described the work I had already spent my life doing.

It was one of those key moments when I stepped back far enough to see how the stars of my own life connected into a constellation. The meaning had been there all along. I simply couldn't see it until I had lived far enough into my own story.
